3. Poplar Trees

These trees were planted in 1996 and were 1 metre tall. There are approximately 2,400 trees on this 2 hectare field. The weeds between the rows of the trees are cut back in the summer, and the bottom branches of each tree are cut off to make them grow tall and straight. Some of the trees will be thinned out, then the remaining trees will be felled for timber after 25 years.
